Soo Rye spent 8 years painting throughout South Korea with another artist and friend, Sanki-San. During this time the two of them searched the mountians and hills that surrounded their city.

On occasion they found small villages and towns tucked away from the chaos of city-life. Here they spent the mornings and afternoons drawing and painting on site.

In 2000, after the death of Sanki-san,

Soo Rye Yoo revisited these themes and depicted the villages resting under the pale glow of the moon. Within these homes she imagines the vilagers dreaming of long awaited hopes. From under the watchful light of the moon the silent prayers of the village come rising towards the starry sky.
